RESPONSIBILITIES

Company needs an experienced Plastics Processing Specialist, located in Cranston, RI, reporting to the EVP, Research and New Business Development. Responsible for the maintenance/operation of the R&D plastics processing lab and support product development activities within Company. Work together with colleagues in the development team to scale-up products to the main production lines and support the manufacturing team in continuous optimizing production processes. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute technology programs to develop innovative solutions in coated fabric applications.

    • Develop/optimize sheet extrusion processes for a variety of plastics using strong skills in plastic processing and material properties. As a member of the development team, interact with customers and aid with formulation, processing, and trouble shooting

    • Translate sheet extrusion processes from lab to production lines at different production facilities. Travel to different locations will be required

    • Support manufacturing teams optimizing and troubleshooting production processes.

  • Maintain and operate plastic sheet extrusion and testing equipment

This key technical R&D position is within the Polymer Synthesis and Development R&D team. The Company needs an experienced Scientist to bring subject matter expertise and leadership to the development and formulation of next generation polymers for coatings applications. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design/develop new emulsion polymers for coatings, sealant and adhesive applications, monitor technology trends and developments in coatings applications, and identify new technologies for waterborne coatings while exploring feasibility of novel polymer chemistries

• Utilize scientific methodology practices for planning/executing experimental development of new initiatives from early concept to commercialization

• Utilize efficient methodology/sound technical principals to help solve product/manufacturing problems

Plant Process Engineer will control internal processes to manufacture paint and paint products by defining/analyzing the manufacturing process of both milling and filling operations for improvement in quality, safety, and efficiency, and creating, improving, and maintaining manufacturing Process Instructions (PI) and salvage/rework integration.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop safety procedures to be employed by workers operating equipment or working in close proximity to on-going chemical reactions
