EH&S MANAGER – CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING

The Company’s broad water-based polyurethane dispersion portfolio affords formulators options for compounding coatings for wood and concrete flooring, automotive interior plastics, leather seating and garments, and flame-retardant finishes for textiles.

 

Headquartered in Lynn, Massachusetts, the Company has an international distribution organization covering North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. With a 170-year history of growth and innovation, the focus of their Management Team is on continuing to serve their diverse customer base and on translating successes to new markets such as architectural coatings, and adhesives.

 

For this role, they are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role will play a critical part in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment while minimizing environmental impact across our global operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop/implement/maintain environmental, health, and safety policies/procedures/programs in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices

  • Conduct regular audits/inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish/promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability throughout the organization

  • Provide technical expertise/guidance on environmental management systems, including waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives

  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence and continuously improve safety performance

  • Develop/deliver training programs on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and regulatory compliance for employees at all levels

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, industry associations, and external stakeholders on environmental, health, and safety matters

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, regulations, and technologies in environmental health and safety management to proactively identify opportunities for improvement

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Chemical Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years’ successful experience in EH&S management, preferably within the chemical manufacturing

  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations/standards, including OSHA, EPA, and international EHS requirements

  • Experience with confined space entry programs and Process Safety Management (PSM) principles is highly desirable

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives and achieving measurable results in safety performance

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other relevant professional certifications are a plus

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
