Responsible for leading development/implementation/improvement of policies/programs/initiatives to ensure the health, safety and well-being of Company employees, contractors and visitors to their sites as well as the communities in which they operate. Partners with the leadership team and key stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. Safety is one of Company’s highest priorities. Therefore, this person leads as the “safety champion” for the Company, driving the continuous development of a world-class Company’s safety culture.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic leadership of EH&S initiatives/programs, driving performance improvement and strengthening the safety culture

  • Develop/execute the company strategic EH&S strategy globally to drive world-class EH&S performance across all sites. Provides guidance/updates to the CEO and Board of Directors 

  • Direct global EH&S department compliance programs worldwide. Identify/implement standardized EH&S programs, best-in-class processes and KPIs worldwide. Provide direction on EH&S matters to all Company’ entities worldwide. Establish policies/procedures to achieve goals while reducing liability. Keep abreast of changing global regulatory EH&S climate and advises on/plans for impact   

  • Provides global organizational development leadership for EH&S function.  Manages the global EH&S team, providing leadership and advancement opportunities to staff  

  • Manage acquisition/divesture activities and other financial sensitive matters such as superfund sites, legal matters related to fines & penalties, and 10Q/10K reporting. Responsible for global department budget/programs.  Responsible for the effectiveness of the department’s data management systems

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS or advanced degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry or related discipline with strong Occupational Health & Safety training/experience.  M.S, Environmental or Safety Engineering a valued plus

  • 15-20 years of industrial EH&S experience, with 5+ years’ minimum experience as Director/Manager in related field

  • Certified Environmental, Safety or Industrial Hygiene professional desired

  • Global oversight experience/knowledge of EH&S regulations, local state/federal EH&S regulations

  • Skilled communicator – throughout all levels of an organization

  • Effective public speaking/ presenting capability

  • High level of strategic acumen 

  • Embraces use of technology as a facilitator and accelerator of functional and business objectives

  • Safety Management System (ex: VPP) experience

  • Ability to quickly understand and coordinate global cultures toward one direction in EHS

 

MANAGER OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY – CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING

(PROVIDENCE, RI REGION)

 

OVERVIEW

Rapidly growing chemical manufacturer that has developed a proprietary, easy-to-use blanket form of aerogels with broad application to a variety of markets including Oil & Gas, Building & Construction, Outdoor Gear & Apparel, Solar Thermal, Appliances and Transportation, has this immediate need!

 

Responsible for helping to ensure Company compliance with all applicable EH&S regulations and program requirements.  Manager must have ability to manage multiple priorities, including the balance between activities required to meet the short-term EH&S objectives associated with daily operations as well as longer term needs. Position travels between manufacturing facility located in East Providence, RI and corporate office/R&D facilities located in Northboro, MA.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the management of policies/associated procedures that help ensure compliance with all federal/state/local health and safety regulations and other requirements  

  • Manage/drive the Company's Process Safety Management (PSM) program

  • Assist with developing/implementing health and safety programs, policies and site-specific procedures across all Company locations

  • Serve (when requested) as liaison for all external regulatory inquires

  • Identify/develop/implement training materials to reflect compliance/business needs

  • Support capital projects as requested 

  • Identify/support efforts that include but are not limited to ISO 14001, waste minimization, emergency management, etc.

  • Establish/implement/manage communications, training and compliance plan across all Company locations, and support all other EH&S directives as requested

  • Currently no direct reports.  Once staff added, carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies/applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees, planning/assigning/directing their work, conducting performance appraisals, rewarding/disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems  

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Environment Science/Engineering

  • 10 years EH&S work-related experience within a multi-site manufacturing environment

  • Previous experience in managing Process Safety Management (PSM)

  • Proven ability to identify, investigate, correct, and document regulatory non-conformances 

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills and PC proficiency

  • Strong advocate for change with a bias for action

  • Ability to complete projects as assigned in a timely manner

 

MAINTENANCE MANAGER – CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING

(LYNN, MA)

 

OVERVIEW

Innovative designer/manufacturer of polyurethane polymers and compounded finishing materials, is seeking a professional and energetic Maintenance Manager for its MA manufacturing facility.

 

Overseeing a staff of 2-3 mechanics, the Maintenance Manager provides Plant Operational Support by seeing to it that scheduled and unscheduled machinery and infrastructure maintenance and repairs are completed in a very timely manner. Maintenance Manager assists the Plant Engineering Manager with small Capital Project initiatives by acting as an internal general contractor and or “clerk of the works”.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recognize five areas of manufacturing equipment concentration:

  1. Production Equipment includes all production vessels in which finished and semi-finished products are produced. Vessel inlet and outlet nozzles constitute the blending equipment’s boundary

  2. EHS Equipment includes equipment that prevents harm to the individual, the environment, or the physical plant

  3. Discharge & Transfer Equipment for finished goods is the process arrangement in-between the production vessel and the pail, drum or tote shipping container. For semi-finished goods is the process arrangement that transfers from vessel to vessel 

  4. Infrastructure Equipment is the physical plant and grounds, utilities, utility producing equipment and all related support equipment

  5. Material Handling Equipment is all equipment used to move raw materials from point of receipt to introduction into a blending vessel. It also includes finished goods equipment employed at point of introduction into a pail, drum or tote packaging container and beyond

 

  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) programs are completed as scheduled

  • Continuous upkeep of CMMS data base of revolving maintenance programs, their task instructions, outside vendor resource, critical spare part, equipment record / O&M manual data bases

  • Completed maintenance details are appropriately collected and filed in CMMS historical data base

  • Maintenance staff is effective, efficient, and has the tools necessary for success

  • Next day, week and future Maintenance Department activities are anticipated and planned for ahead of time appropriately with necessary manpower, tools, and or knowledge 

  • Equipment failure is resolved quickly and lessons learned are enacted to prevent future occurrence

  • Duties of direct reports and contracted help are carried out in a safe manner, by adhering to company policies and values

  • Continuous improvement with sight on the stretch objective of 100% planned maintenance
